WINIFRED LEE

MODEL Boat., Hand crafted 8 inch model of the 95 foot long WINIFRED LEE 1916 - 1955. For years this ship was servicing the coast of Labrador. On Sept 5th 1955 while at the wharf at Twillingate with a load of hay stored below deck and 100s of drums of kerosene and other fuels on the upper deck, smoke was seen coming from the lower deck. Thanks to the Captain and crew of the boat Shirley Louise who went aboard and attached a rope and towed her out in the middle of the Harbour, where she burnt to her waterline.
