Antique Newfoundland flag - circa 1800's

NEWFOUNDLAND Flag- Antique, This original (silk) RED ENSIGN Newfoundland flag is a recent barn find, and is in excellent condition. The flag is over a 100 years old, and was flown proudly by Newfoundland merchant ships in the late 1700's - 1800's. At the time, Newfoundland was a country under the British Empire, as it did not join Canada until 1949.

This may be the only existing antique flag of its kind. A fantastic piece of Canadian and Newfoundland history.
